About this position
The RN, Urgency Center is a health care provider responsible for providing individualized care to customers and their families according to established standards, policies and procedures: assessment; nursing diagnosis; outcome identification; planning; implementation; and evaluation. The RN coordinates care among disciplines and delegates activities to other customer care providers as appropriate. The RN will help manage the flow of customers throughout the Urgency Center and assists providers in treatment and management of their customers and promotes remarkable customer care.
The RN, Urgency Center identifies and responds promptly and effectively to emergent situations. The RN contributes as a part of the care team in providing supportive, comforting and compassionate care to customers and families, and actively and consistently demonstrates the mission, vision, values and guiding principles of the Urgency Center and Blaze Health.
What we’ll expect from you
• Assists with the care of customers who may include infant, child, adolescent, adult, or geriatric. • Collects current symptoms, as well as a detailed customer history and then consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan and provide bedside care, vital signs, clean and bandage wounds, IV therapy, while considering both physical and psychosocial elements. • Follows the standard rooming process when rooming customers: Obtains vitals and reconciles medications with customers. • Provides triage assessment, identifies and responds promptly and effectively to high acuity situations. • Assists providers during exams, diagnostic testing and treatments. • Prepares and administers (orally, subcutaneously, IM or IV) and records prescribed medications. • Contributes to the professional development of peers, students and other health care team members and promotes shared accountability and decision making for nursing practice. • Provides education. Teaches customers and significant others how to manage their illness/injury, by explaining: post-treatment home care needs, diet, nutrition, exercise. • Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms. • Displays professionalism while completing multiple tasks in a timely manner. • Accepts other duties as assigned to promote the accomplishment of organizational goals. • The team member is accountable to demonstrate proficiency for the skills outlined in the appropriate position skills list. • The team member is accountable to maintain skill proficiency, including improvement where deemed necessary, and upgrading any additional or new skills on the appropriate position skills list. Lead RN Accountabilities: • The Lead RN is a resource for staff to utilize for questions on customer care, policies or procedures, and is responsible for handling real time customer concerns or complaints in the event that the Supervisor or Manager are not present. • Recognizes and complies with legal, regulatory, accrediting and procedural requirements related to area of responsibility. • Understands and follows principles and standards as outlined in North Memorial's Corporate Code of Conduct. • Protects customer and team member privacy and only accesses customer and/or team member related information as needed to perform job duties. • Reports violations or areas of concern to supervisor or Corporate Compliance Officer via established methods of communication.

Education
• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required. • BSN preferred.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• One year of experience in Emergency Room and/or Urgent Care is required. • Ability to be anticipatory to the needs of the customer; to take initiative, be self-motivated and a proactive, independent, accountable, dependable performer. • Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to express ideas and information (both in written and oral form) clearly and concisely in a manner appropriate to the audience. • Ability to be accountable for quality customer care and quality customer service, and respond appropriately to a variety of personalities and situations. • Knowledge of professional nursing principles and practice.
Licensure/Certification(s) Mandatory
• Current licensure as RN in State of Minnesota - State Requirement • Current BLS cerfication - NMHC Standard
