About this position
Provides training to Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons in all aspects of Cranial Maxillofacial Trauma, and educates and trains the next generation of academic leaders in Oral and Maxillofacial Oncology. NMMC has a busy service that offers the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery services, including the surgical management of cranial maxillofacial trauma. The program is designed to provide the trainee with sufficient didactic and clinical training to provide comprehensive surgical treatment for customers with cranial maxillofacial trauma. Trainees are encouraged to develop skills in teaching and research in preparation for a full-time hospital-based or academic position. Trainees are evaluated based upon the following proficiency statements and must meet these proficiencies:
• Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior in interactions with customers and colleagues. • Evaluate the medical status of cranial maxillofacial trauma customers and determine their ability to tolerate surgical treatment. • Develop appropriate differential diagnoses and establish a diagnostic plan for the cranial maxillofacial trauma customer. • Develop a comprehensive treatment plan and provide surgical treatment for the management of cranial maxillofacial trauma. • Understand the interdisciplinary approach to care of the cranial maxillofacial trauma customer and the importance of quality of life in decision-making process. • Develop a reconstructive treatment plan and provide surgical reconstruction for the cranial maxillofacial trauma customer.
What we’ll expect from you
• Documentation: Document subjective information (history) gathered through customer and family interview, review appropriate records, and discuss with customer's personal physician when applicable. Perform physical examination, render a diagnosis, and/or consider a different diagnosis. Provide appropriate treatment and follow-up. Inform customers and families of needs for treatment and assure appropriate consents are obtained when necessary. Complete chart and/or referrals according to established guidelines. • Customer Experience: Evaluate and follow customer's response related to interventions and/or expected outcomes. Revise plans as appropriate with consideration of customer response. Understand the importance of a positive customer encounter, and perform at or above peer mean and/or customer experience survey tool. • Access: Maintain availability to customer panel including appropriate contact hours based on FTE status. • Quality: Know and understand customer-centered quality measures. Meet and/or exceed clinic quality goals. • Citizenship: Take part in a committee or work on a task force, participate in on-call duty, be flexible in scheduling (e.g. covering ill providers), and cultivate positive working relationships with care team. • Accepts other duties as assigned to promote the accomplishment of organizational goals. • The team member is accountable to demonstrate proficiency for the skills outlined in the appropriate position skills list. • The team member is accountable to maintain skill proficiency, including improvement where deemed necessary, and upgrading any additional or new skills on the appropriate position skills list. • Recognizes and complies with legal, regulatory, accrediting and procedural requirements related to area of responsibility. • Understands and follows principles and standards as outlined in North Memorial's Corporate Code of Conduct. • Protects customer and team member privacy and only accesses customer and/or team member related information as needed to perform job duties. • Reports violations or areas of concern to supervisor or Corporate Compliance Officer via established methods of communication.

Education
• Graduation from an approved residency. • Graduation from Medical or Dental school.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• Applicants must have completed an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. • Must complete credentialing & privileging requirements upon hire. • Ability to remain or become awake and alert during on-call hours which include non-clinic hours, nights, and weekends. • Ability to answer customer and family concerns and provide medical advice by telephone to the ambulatory population when necessary.
Licensure/Certification(s) Mandatory
Resident License, or General Dental License, or Specialty License in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
